Tesco denied ‘totem’ ad on roundabout

8/ 5/2008

A supermarket has been denied permission for a tall ‘totem pole’ advertisement on a roundabout.

Tesco, in Whitton Road, Martins Heron, has been allowed several new signs around the newly extended  store, but has been refused permission for a tall sign on the roundabout where Whitton Road meets New Forest Ride.

Cllr Shelagh Pile, who sits on Bracknell Forest Borough Council’s planning committee, said: “The totem pole is intrusive to the neighbouring area.”

Cllr Colin Dudley added: “It’s a very busy roundabout and it would be a distraction to motorists.”
