Ram raiders escaped with a large quantity of cigarettes after smashing a vehicle into a shop, police believe.

The suspected ram raid, at Budgens in Hermitage Parade, Ascot, happened yesterday (Tuesday) shortly before 10pm and is currently being investigated.

A police spokesman said detectives believed the offenders drove a vehicle into the shop wall to gain entry.

There are currently no descriptions of the vehicle or the offenders, he added.
