Commuter delays after death on the tracks

31/ 3/2008

Rail commuters in Bracknell faced severe delays during rush hour this morning following a fatality on the line.

Services to and from London Waterloo were disrupted until about 9am after a woman was hit by a train at the Waterloo Road level crossing between Bracknell and Wokingham shortly before 7am.

Network Rail bosses set up replacement buses to Ascot and Reading while investigations were being carried out on the tracks at the scene of the accident.

Dozens of commuters had to wait outside the station - some for up to two hours - before they could get on a bus or a train.
