Detectives are seeking a motorist who was a key witness of a serious assault in Ascot.

The man, who was driving what is believed to be a bus or private coach, rescued a woman in her 20s after she was allegedly assaulted in Sunningdale last month.

The incident took place near the junction of the A30 London Road and Broomhall Lane at about 5.30pm on Monday, February 18, a spokesperson at Ascot police said yesterday.

Detectives say they want to speak to the driver because he may be an important witness who could help the investigation.

The man stopped to speak to the victim and gave her a lift to Ascot High Street.

Anyone with information can call detective sergeant Steve Wilts on 08458 505 505.

- Brian Greenwood, 45, of Constable Way in College Town, Sandhurst, was charged with kidnap with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence in relation to the incident.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Reading Crown Court on May 29.
