Paint job promotes healthy eating

March 19, 2008

Lunctime at a Bracknell primary school has just got a lot brighter thanks to a food mural.

Birch Hill School in Leppington has had its cookery room decorated showing children the benefits of healthy eating.

The idea for the lively wall came after pupil Harry Baker, 7, won £250 in a drawing competition last year.

Headteacher Alan Harding said: “Rather than spend the money on art equipment we wanted something a bit more special.” Staff and students painted the mural which was unveiled after the recent half-term break.

It shows healthy and junk food having a race – needless to say, the burgers are bringing up the rear.

Mr Harding added: “It’s really brightened up a corner of the school that was a bit drab before.”
