Buzzing with excitement at Bees visit

11/ 3/2008

Budding stars of the ice were buzzing when they met their heroes from the Bracknell Bees.

Bracknell Bees players Chris Douglas and Dwight Parrish visited Long Lane Primary in Tilehurst and led two assemblies at the school – a junior and an infant assembly.

Then this month the school hired an artificial ice rink which children could skate about on.

Parent Kate Lee has two children, seven-year-old Jack, in Year Two at the school, and four-year-old Amelia, who will join in the next academic year.

As a member of the Long Lane Primary School Association she helped organise the events.

She said: “The Bracknell Bees talked all about ice hockey.

“The children had lovely fun – they really enjoyed it.

“A lot of children showed interest in ice hockey.

“The next week we hired an ice rink which came to the school. The children really enjoyed that too. They had a fantastic time.

“The school’s theme this year is health and fitness and the association fundraises for the school. Children paid to ice-skate. Meanwhile the Bracknell Bees donated a signed hockey shirt for us to raffle off.”
