Speeding crackdown continues

March 07, 2008

A speed check operation stopped 27 drivers for exceeding the limit.

The checks were carried out by Berkshire East road safety constable PC Bob Wade, working with road safety officers (RSOs) from Bracknell Forest Council.

In Ringmead, Birch Hill, Bracknell on Thursday). 27 drivers were stopped. 22 received roadside education from the RSOs, four received fixed penalty notices and one driver had his car seized for driving with no insurance and with only a provisional licence.

PC Wade said: “It is quite clear that the residents want speed enforcement carried out. I

" am always receiving requests for me to attend other areas to carry out road safety checks, sometimes by the drivers that I have just caught. I believe we are striking a very good balance of education and enforcement conducted at the roadside.”

Great news there should be more speed checks, too many people break the speed limit and get away with it. The road death toll is 3,500 annually, so if you cant drive at the speed limit, then don't drive.
