Cabbies call for action after driver is assaulted

Taxi drivers in Bracknell have spoken out about the dangers of their job and called for action following a violent assault on a driver.

On Sunday, May 6, at 12.52 a taxi driver was punched in the head by a man after he stopped at a cash point in Crown Wood.

The man and his female companion got out of the taxi at the Crown Wood shops, Crown Wood Row, to withdraw money from the cash machine.

The man handed the driver £10, which was not enough to cover the cost of their journey from Reading.

He then said he could not get any more money out from the cash machine to pay the fare and punched the driver on the left side of his head.

The driver suffered swelling and bruising to the left side of his forehead and a cut to his left ear.
