First aider to the rescue in BA plane emergency

By Sarah Bishton
August 23, 2006

A St John Ambulance volunteer from Binfield got to put his first aid skills to use when a passenger on board his flight to Crete collapsed.

Trevor Woods leapt to the rescue when the captain of a British Airways flight to Crete asked for passengers who had medical or first aid experience to come forward after another passenger found his wife slumped forward in her seat.

Mr Woods from Temple Park was on his way to a week’s holiday with his wife and was two hours into the three-hour flight from Gatwick airport when the emergency happened.
