Pupils at a Wargrave infant school said farewell to their kitchen assistant.

Jessie Avery hung up her apron at Robbert Piggott Infant School.

Sally Ann Akers, executive headteacher, said: “Jessie has been a treasured member of our school for 23 years. She has always been reliable, cheerful and kind.

“We shall miss her very much and wish her a long and happy retirement.”

Staff and children held an assembly at the school, in School Hill, before pupils presented Mrs Avery with a bouquet of flowers on Thursday, February 14.
