Teenagers quadruple their charity money in their sponsored walk
By Jon NurseFebruary 08, 2013
Enterprising teenagers presented their profits to Help for Heroes after they quadrupled their expectations in an autumn walk.
The Holt School pupils Louise Wilson, Rameen Waqar, Megan Marks and Charlotte Corbett dressed in combat gear and took a crowd of 50 people around Dinton Pastures Country Park in October to raise funds as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.
On Monday three of the Year 12 girls, who are all members of Wokingham Youth Centre, handed over a cheque for £400 from the charity day.
“We decided to go for a medium length walk that would be good for children,” Rameen said. “We were really happy with how many came – we’d only aimed to raise £100.
“We got some gifts from Boots for a raffle and made some cakes and it was well worth the effort.”
