December 12, 2012
Successes of the past year were celebrated at a secondary school’s award ceremony.
Pupils, parents, staff and governors gathered at Garth Hill College in Bull Lane to see prize winners collect their cups and shields.
Assistant principal Julia Hart said: “It was an absolutely fantastic evening – it was well attended by pupils, parents and many representatives from the local community and local authority.
“There were more than 80 prize winners recognised for lots of different things and we presented long service awards to staff for first time, as well as teacher of the year, governor of the year and parent of the year.”
The guests of honour included Mayor of Bracknell Forest Councillor Jennie McCracken and her consort Cllr Iain McCracken.
Guest speaker was former Garth Hill pupil and BBC royal correspondent Daniela Relph.
Mrs Hart said: “She was full of praise for the opportunities and encouragement she had been given when she was a pupil at Garth Hill.”
Marcia Dinghile, administration manager, received a very special 25 years service award, teacher of the year award went to head of history Spencer Harris and governor of the year went to Martin Field.
