A-level results: Wellington College

Identical twins Alec and Jack Trigger achieved identical grades at Crowthorne’s Wellington College and will now be going up to Oxford to read engineering.

The brothers overcame the death of their army brigadier father, Richard ‘Dick’ Trigger MBE, in 2000, to secure one A* and three A grades each.

More than 60 per cent of students at the college were awarded A* and A grades.

The college also offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Wellington achieved its best-ever results.

The IB average score was 37.3 points, equivalent to four A*s at A-level.

Headmaster Dr Anthony Seldon said: “Only eight per cent of this cohort were in the top quartile of independent schools in terms of ability when they joined in 2007.

“For them to have achieved 91.1 per cent As and Bs at A-level is a formidable result.”
