New garden ahoy at South Lake Primary
By Victoria SmithMay 03, 2012
Everything in the garden is really lovely now for the smallest children at South Lake Primary.
Woodley mayor Councillor Coling Lawley went along to the Campbell Road school on Wednesday, March 28, to officially open a re-modelled garden.
Over the past few months a lot of work has gone into the outdoor area used by the nursery and foundation children, who are aged from three to five.
They now have a sensory garden and South Lake’s very own ship, the ‘Jolly Cygnet’. There is also a wet play area, a digging pit and a sand pit. The school has been working closely with the Country Garden Centre in Winnersh. Some of the older foundation children have been going to the centre each term to learn about that season’s plants.
They have been given very exciting goodie bags and centre manager John Leonard was invited to the garden opening as a thank-you for the support.
