School looking for lollipop person

March 04, 2010

A primary school is planning to extend in order to meet increasing demand.

Sandy Lane Primary School in Priestwood has applied to the council to build two extra classrooms, extend the hall, build a new library and add facilities including a parents’ room.

Headteacher Liz Norris said: “Because demand for the school has grown we are going to grow out of the space that we’ve got.

“We’re really excited that more people are choosing Sandy Lane but we need to be able to offer more of the facilities that made them choose us in the first place.”

To offset the effects of more people bringing children to the school Mrs Norris is planning to start a ‘walking bus’ service.

Parents will be able to drop their youngsters off at the nearby Albert Road car park and staff will walk them to the school from there.

The school is still looking for a new lollipop person to help make this possible – if you are interested call Sandy Lane Primary School on (01344) 423896.
