Diploma roadshow at The University of Reading
December 29, 2009
Pupils in Wokingham thinking of taking on a diploma next year can learn about the options available to them at two upcoming roadshows.
The qualification aiming to help youngsters between the ages of 14 and 19 develop work-relevant skills was introduced in September 2008 as an extra-curricular qualification, but from September next year the module will be more widely available to pupils.
Those thinking of taking up a diploma, which is available in 10 different subject areas, are being invited to learn about the option first hand at two Diploma Roadshows taking place next month.
Roadshows will be held at The Blue Room at The University of Reading on Wednesday, January 6, and Reading Town Hall on Thursday, January 21.
Both events, which will be open from 3pm to 8pm, are co-hosted by Wokingham and Reading Borough Councils and sponsored by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).
Diplomas, which provide students with the chance to gain transferrable skills recognised by employers in all sectors, will be available to youngsters in business administration and finance, hospitality and engineering.
The qualification can also be obtained through studies in construction and the built environment, sport and active leisure, information technology, hair and beauty studies, creative and media and society, health and development.
