Card picked for Queen
10/ 7/2008
The design of a birthday card for The Queen received the royal seal of approval.
The card from Elizabeth Myers, nine, from The Abbey School, was chosen from hundreds of entries.
Fat-Chilli Cards & Gifts operates greetings card art projects in schools, nurseries, children’s groups and charities throughout the UK.
The projects provide a means for children to express their creativity and to raise self-esteem through design, and providing a fundraising opportunity.
Earlier this year Fat-Chilli held a competition open to all schools and nurseries in the UK to ‘design a birthday card for The Queen’s official birthday’ on June 14. The designs submitted were of a very high standard.
On choosing her design the company said: “Elizabeth’s design was very professional and captured a very good likeness of The Queen. The design provided a colourful and vibrant finish when applied to one of the Fat-Chilli Greetings cards. A very worthy winner.”
Elizabeth’s prizes included a 12-pack of birthday cards, a T-shirt, an eco-friendly shoulder bag, and a poster of her design.
The card was sent to Buckingham Palace for The Queen’s official birthday, with Elizabeth’s design presented in a golden envelope.
