Tree planters wait for news on world record attempt

Environment volunteers in Bracknell are waiting to hear whether they are part of a world record for tree planting.
BBC Breathing Places, which organised the Tree O’clock event on Saturday, December 5, is waiting to hear from Guinness World Records whether enough trees were planted across the country within an hour to break the record.
At 11am, volunteers started the planting frenzy in five different sites around Bracknell: Priory Lane Field in Warfield, Tinkers Copse in Binfield, Mill Park in Bracknell, Berrybank Close in Sandhurst and Sandhurst Memorial Park.
Richard Walton, parks and countryside manager for Bracknell Forest Council, which organised the planting sessions, said: “We have had an excellent response from local organisations and residents who want to take part in the attempt.
“We look forward to finding out whether we break the record and more importantly watching the saplings become fully grown trees.”
