Hats off to Reading Vintage FairBy Laura Herbert

Glitz and glamour at bargain prices helped the town’s first vintage fair get off to a great start at the weekend.
Clothes and accessories inspired by the 1920s right through to the 1980s ensured there was something for everyone at The Reading Vintage Fair on Sunday, January 30.
Visitors enjoyed live music while browsing around six stalls selling an array of items from dresses and bags to brooches and unique rings at the Purple Turtle in Gun Street.
The monthly fair at the town centre bar was organised by Caversham-based Georgina Webb of Georgina’s Vintage Couture and Anna Spedding of Betsy and Sue Vintage.
Miss Webb, who runs www.georginasvintage.com, said: “It has been fantastic, really good. I didn’t know what to expect but it has gone a lot better than I expected.
“The atmosphere is amazing and the bands have been fantastic.”
She continued: “I have always been into vintage and set up a website about a year ago and ran a stall every Sunday at The Oakford.
“I thought it would be nice as there’s very little vintage clothing in Reading any more and I thought it would be nice to have it all in one place as a celebration of vintage.”
The monthly fair is due to take place at the Purple Turtle on the last Sunday of the month from noon. For more details visit the event page The Reading Vintage Fair on Facebook.
