Teens take the plunge

March 15, 2010

Teenagers dipped into some free lifeguard training to help them make a splash in a new career.

A group of 11 teenagers spent five days doing an intensive National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NLPQ) course at Bracknell Leisure Centre in February – and it didn’t cost them a penny.

The Bagshot Road leisure centre, run by Bracknell Forest Council, has teamed up with Swim UK to offer the course for under 19s again in April, June, July and October.

Councillor Iain McCracken, Bracknell Forest Council’s executive member for leisure, said: “I’d like to say well done to everyone who took part and completed the course.

“If you are considering a different career path or gaining additional skills then why not sign up for the next course in April?”
