A mother of two has found the confidence to go swimming with her children after losing five stone in weight.
At a size 20 and weighing 17st 6lb, Carole Bowditch used to hate the idea of donning a swimsuit and joining her children Philip, 12, and Georgina, 10, at the pool.
But after losing weight on a special diet programme, Carole, 51, is now enjoying weekly family trips to the swimming baths.
Carole, who lives in Harmans Water in Bracknell, said: “I simply didn’t have the confidence before to wear a swimsuit, so I really wanted to lose weight for the children so that I could take them swimming and we could have fun as a family.
“On family holidays, I always used to cover up at the beach with long skirts and would hardly ever venture into the water but now I’m actually looking forward to it on our next holiday.”
Carole, who is now a size 14 to 16, has also seen her health improve and no longer needs to take medication for a bad knee.
Carole said: “My doctor told me that losing weight would improve my condition and he’s been proved right.
“I now no longer have any pain in my knee, which is quite miraculous as I’d suffered with it for some time.
“I also have much more energy and just feel far healthier.”
Carole, who works as a checkout operator at Tesco in Warfield, is also enjoying being able to wear trendier clothes now she has a new slimline figure.
She says: “In the past I used to cover up with baggy skirts, but now I am enjoying wearing fitted trousers because I have the confidence to do so.”
Carole is continuing with her All About W8 diet programme to reach her goal of losing a further stone and dropping another dress size.
All About W8 involves nutritionally balanced ‘mealpaks’, which are low calorie, low GI and low carb, combined with healthy meals.
