Ladies day at Royal Ascot

By Lorna Catling
June 18, 2009

It's going to be hats away at Ascot today as the ladies take centre stage for the most fashion-conscious day of the meet.

Ladies Day is a chance for women to dress up in their gladrags and take a flutter on the horses.

And with big racehorse names like Yeats competing in today’s Gold Cup at 3.45pm the action looks set to be a winner.

The first day of the five-day meet on Tuesday attracted The Queen, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

With Ladies Day traditionally the most popular of the meet, even more famous faces are expected to pass through the gates today.
