Reggae Reggae Sauce creator Levi Roots shared his love of music and food with university students on Tuesday.
Mr Roots, who hails from Jamaica, visited Reading Student Union venue 3Sixty as part of his ‘Levi Roots Red Hot Experience’ tour.
He cooked Caribbean food live on stage using recipes that helped him find fame with his Reggae Reggae Sauce on BBC’s Dragons Den, including spicy mackerel with green bananas.
He entertained students by combining his love of food and singing with a performance of his latest single Cool Me Off to promote his album Red Hot.
Ian Macdonald, commercial services manager at the university said: “The show consisted of what might seem a strange mix of music, cooking and chat but worked so well.
“The night started with Levi singing an acoustic cover of a Bob Marley song followed by an original composition that led seamlessly into him reflecting on his background and rise to fame and success.”
Levi has previously released two reggae albums and was nominated at the 1998 MOBO Awards.
Since the entrepreneur appeared on Dragons Den in 2007, he has gone on to sell a range of sauces and cookery books.
