A manager's hard work in improving a “delightful” Binfield pub has led to it winning a nationwide award.

The Victoria Arms in Terrace Road North has been named the Fuller’s Country Village Pub of the Year.

The pub received the award in the Griffin Trophy Competition which rewards Fuller’s pubs which have delivered the best quality all round service.

Michael Turner, chairman of Fullers, said: “The Victoria Arms is a delightful pub and a haven for those looking for good food, great beer and lively conversation.”

Manager Jim Teasdale was singled out for special praise.

Mr Turner said: “Since Jim arrived in 2006, the pub’s fortunes have risen continually and his efforts are now being rewarded.”

Jim said: “I was absolutely thrilled and almost lost for words when Michael announced that The Victoria was the winner. I can’t wait to walk back through the door with our winner’s plaque.”

Jim wins a holiday to the value of £1,000 and £200 to share with the pub’s staff.
