White's Wine: A great Kiwi deal

By Stuart White
July 01, 2009

For half price quality New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc head to the Co-op this week.

They are offering the summer fresh Marlborough Estate Reserve Sauvignon 2007/8 at just £4.99 until Tuesday.

Distinctively Marlborough, this white displays gooseberry, passion fruit and honeysuckle characteristics and is an ideal match for seafood on the barbecue.

White wine of the month is the refreshing, easy-drinking Italian Co-operative Pinot Grigio 2007 (£3.99). The bottle will be gone before you know it.

For an affordable red, the fruity yet smoky Co-operative Elephant Trail Pinotage Shiraz 2008 (£4.49 or two for £7) from South Africa is a good bet. Eat best with pasta.

Also worth trying is the Argentinian Graffigna Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 (£3.99).

Chewy, spicy, unfiltered fruit is the hallmark of this deep coloured wine, which is one of the most popular in the Co-op range. Tried and tested and a steal at the price.

Remember, these deals run until Tuesday so don’t waste a minute – or a drop.
