Making Connexion to a career

July 11, 2012

An event to try to get young people into work or education takes place next week.

Young people’s career service Connexions has teamed up with the Youth Offending Service (YOS) to lay on a special day at the Novotel hotel on Friday, July 20, aimed at helping those aged between 16 and 25 who are not in employment, education or training.

The day will be split into two events – a networking session for YOS and Connexions providers in the morning and in the afternoon a chance for young people to meet them, get CV help and job and training information.

Organiser Karen Green, who works part-time as a personal assistant with both the YOS and Connexions, said: “There will be a chance for young people to speak to employers.

“There are so many courses around, it’s about knowing which one to go on.”

There will be a prize draw for Oracle vouchers worth £50, £30 and £20.

Experts from Reading Borough Council will be present from 1pm to 4pm. Admission is free.

Talk to Connexions before their money gets cut completely and they close.

Any effort to reduce the number of N.E.E.Ts is a good thing
