Reading jobless figures fall again

June 28, 2012

A fall in the number of jobless benefit claimants in Reading has been recorded for the second consecutive month.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics show 3,737 people claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) in the borough in May, 61 fewer than in April.

That figure represents 3.4 per cent of the working age population.

Neighbouring West Berkshire and Wokingham Borough remained the same, with 1.8 and 1.3 per cent claiming JSA.

The number of claimants in the South East stayed at 2.6 per cent while the UK figure dropped by 0.1 per cent to 3.9 per cent.
