New fire warden celebrates with a blaze of glory
January 13, 2011
A jobseeker has successfully completed the latest fire warden course in preparation for future work.
John Ward, of Lower Earley, chose to take a new one-day course provided by Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service (RBFRS) which offers reduced rates for the unemployed.
There is a choice of fire safety awareness, fire safety principles (fire wardens) and fire risk assessment.
Mr Ward took the second course which is held at the Whitley Wood fire station learning and development centre.
Mike Pearson, commercial training team leader at RBFRS, said: “We are very keen to encourage job seekers to acquire this qualification at a very low cost for a limited number of places on each course.
“Potential employers will benefit from not having to provide the otherwise mandatory training under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005.”
