A star in the making
December 14, 2001
CARRIE NETTING (pictured) looks in the mirror and what she sees is a star!
Though she is still a student at Guildford School Of Acting, she was picked to play the title role in the panto Snow White at the nearby Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.
Of her professional debut she says: "It's really exciting. I walk by the theatre every day, on my way to college but I never expected to be performing there."
Carrie, aged 21, added: "It's a fantastic opportunity for me and I'm really looking forward to working with such an experienced cast."
Another plus for Carrie, a big Harry Potter fan, is that she will be on stage with Warwick Davis, who plays the diminutive Professor Flitwick in the film version of J K Rowling's book.
And she keeps a link with college because her prince in the panto is played by fellow student Neil Ditte.
Furthermore the production is directed and choreographed by Gerry Tebbutt, who is EWE head of music theatre at the college.
Carrie hopes to follow in the footsteps of such well-known graduates from GSA, as Michael Ball, Brenda Blethyn and Michael Greco, who plays Beppe di Marco in EastEnders.
The panto, which stars Kate O'Mara as the wicked queen and Gorden Kaye as Herman the henchman, runs until January 6.
