The work of an award-winning English playwright will be performed in Wokingham this month.

The Rep College, which is based in Purley-on-Thames, is bringing Peter Shaffer’s The Private Ear and the Public Eye to Pinewood Leisure Centre.

The pair of plays were written in the 1960s and will be performed back to back on Friday, January 25, and Saturday, January 26.

Private Ear tells the story of nervous clerk Bob who is overwhelmed with the prospect of entertaining a lady at his flat. He decides to recruit his friend Ted to help with the catering but not everything goes to plan.

The following play, Public Eye, is a lighter offering, following chartered accountant Charles, and his wife Belinda. Charles has become suspicious of his wife and hires a private detective to follow her, but will he really want to know what she has been up to?

n Tickets for the show are £9.50 or £8 for concessions. To book call the box office on (0118) 942 1144.
