Impressive feat from Irish dancer
November 27, 2012
A young member of an Irish dance group which meets in West Reading has become a Great Britain champion.
Joe Flynn, of Earley, won the title of GB under-21 Irish dancing champion in the World Irish Dance Association’s (WIDA) open championships in Stratford-upon-Avon earlier this month.
Nearly 200 people competed in various stages of the two-day contest and the 19-year-old can now enter the WIDA European and World Championships, in Germany, next Easter.
Mr Flynn is a member of the Heneghan-James School of Irish Dance which meets at Reading Irish Centre, in Chatham Street, every week.
He helps run the adult classes and is working to achieve his Irish dance teacher qualification.
