Twyford Singers bid a fond farewell to musical director
December 10, 2010
A musical conductor will enjoy his last concert with a Twyford choir by performing his own arrangement of a Christmas carol.
Sam Rathbone is stepping down from his position as musical director of The Twyford Singers and to mark the occasion the choir will be singing Child Of The Stable’s Secret Birth and a selection of other carols at a concert on Saturday.
Twyford Singers’ chairman Marjorie Harrison says: “We really appreciate the musical skills Sam brings to the choir, we’re sorry to see him go and will miss him.
“We feel his carol has a simplicity and gentleness which captures the spirit of Christmas and look forward to performing this as best we can.”
She adds: “We wish him well in his exciting new future as assistant director of music at Rochester Cathedral.”
The choir will be gathering at St Mary’s Church in Station Road, Twyford, from 7.30pm, to give a memorable performance of Vivaldi’s Gloria.
The concert will also feature the New Zealand carol Te Harinui, along with other traditional carols which the audience will be invited to join in with.
Tickets for the Christmas concert cost £7 and include refreshments. They will be available on the door or by calling (0118) 934 2406 or (0118) 934 5985.
