Silchester Players - Oh, What a Lovely War!

8/10/2008

Commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Armistice, the Silchester Players present their version of Oh, What a Lovely War!

The play, by Joan Littlewood, is song and dance extravaganza based on the experiences and tales of the First World War and has been a popular choice for groups this year.

In 1914, when the Army came to town they wanted to recruit. Just four years later, millions of new soldiers had left their homes and never returned.

Now, 90 years on, a battalion of actors and musicians tell their story.

The show is performed at Silchester Village Hall on Friday and Saturday, and then again on Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25. All shows start at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £7 or £5 for concessions, and are available by calling the box office on  (0118) 981 5600.
