ENJOY A LIVE MUSICAL RIDE THROUGH THE AGES
21/ 4/2004
MY, my. . . 30 years ago ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest performing the song Waterloo.
Agnetha, Frida, Bjorn and Benny went on to become a worldwide pop music phenomenon. Abba enjoyed nine number one singles and 17 successive top ten hits, including Dancing Queen, Knowing Me, Knowing You and — of course — Mamma Mia.
Few artists have injected as much zest, fun and excitement into the world of music -—with the
exception of a trio of brothers who matched ABBA hit-for-hit. The Bee Gees are one of the top five most successful recording artists of all time -— scoring hits like Jive Talkin’, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever and Staying Alive.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the birth of ABBA, the world-acclaimed Mamma Mia! Concert Show is embarking on a nationwide Thank You For the Music tour featuring all the hits of ABBA and the Bee Gees.
The spectacular, completely live production is absolutely
authentic — the music performed note perfect, the dance routines and costumes a mirror image of the original artists. However, what
makes Mamma Mia! so popular — well over 100 UK dates last year — is the unique atmosphere of the era is recreated to perfection.
Indeed, Mamma Mia! is much more than a tribute to ABBA and the Bee Gees — it’s a musical ride through the decades.
Now enjoying its seventh year,
the all-live show is established as
one of the most popular and successful productions on tour in
the UK.
Mamma Mia! fans — who range in age from six to 60 year olds — regularly dress for the occasion. So, polish up your platforms, unfurl your flares, hitch up your hot-pants and prepare for a night of hit-packed entertainment that will have you dancing in the aisles.
ABBA may have met their Waterloo, but Mamma Mia! keeps the spirit of the era alive.
