Model boat show this Sunday
May 02, 2012
Beale Park’s one-day Model Boat Show takes place on Sunday.
The event, run inconjunction with the Mid-Thames Model Boat Club, will give visitors a chance to see many of the models sailing on the lake during a programme of themed sailing times, including model tug towing, Thames Sailing Barges and fast electric racing boats.
“The Model Boat Show offers enthusiasts and members of the public alike an interesting and entertaining day out which appeals to all ages,” said organiser and Beale Park chairman Richard Howard.
“We are delighted to co-host this year’s activity with the Mid-Thames Model Boat Club, who are resident at Beale Park throughout the year and who will be welcoming many other clubs and organisations to the event as part of the festival’s sailing.”
Visitors will also be able to see the park’s model boat collection, which now features a ‘Titanic Display’, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of her sinking on April 15, 1912.
The show runs from 10am to 5pm. Normal admission prices apply and free car parking is available.
