Celebration of British music

December 28, 2001

THE talented and attractive Evelyn Glennie (pictured) is coming to The Hexagon in January in a concert celebrating British music and the Queen's Golden Jubilee

The Northern Sinfonia will be performing works by Walton, Vaughan Williams, MacMillan, Maxwell Davies and Elgar, all of whom have composed during the Queen's lifetime.

The orchestra will be conducted by Owain Arwel Hughes on Monday, January 14.

Distinguished percussionist Evelyn Glennie will be performing in MacMillan's Veni, Veni Emmanuel and she will also play bagpipes in Maxwell Davies's exuberant Orkney Wedding with Sunrise.

The concert finishes with Elgar's Nursery Suite which was dedicated to Princess Elizabeth just before the composer died.

Tickets from £18 to £27 are available from the box office on (0118) 960 6060.
