X Factor stars Union J land first record deal

An X Factor finalist who hails from Winkfield has landed a record deal with his boy band this week.

Ex-Charters School pupil Josh Cuthbert, 20, and band Union J announced on Monday that they have signed up to RCA Records, which represents the likes of R Kelly, Usher and Pink.

Josh’s mum Kathryn Browne, 50, said: “I am so proud. It is all still exciting – I believe it is a three-album deal.

“It is weird to see posters of Josh in teen magazines and see articles about how ‘fit’ Josh is.”

Union J narrowly missed out on the final of last year’s ITV talent contest, but are now performing in the X Factor live tour and have recorded their first single to be released some time between April and June.

In a statement Union J said: “Hopefully 2013 will be an amazing year for us and we cannot wait for everyone to hear our music.”

Kathryn added: “We will be seeing Josh on tour next week and we just can’t wait to hear the new single.”
