Be ready for a Zombies invasion at Sub89By Linda Serck
September 20, 2012
Reading indie trio Adam & Elvis are very pleased to be supporting none other than 60s’ music legends The Zombies when they play at Sub89 in Reading on Friday.
One of the great things about Sub89 is that local bands can support such music giants.
The Zombies first shot into the limelight with their perennial hit She’s Not There in 1964, followed by Tell Her No and Time Of The Season.
Founding members Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone, who are still part of the current line-up, were only in their early 20s when they had their string of hits.
So perhaps there is much to talk about and advice to impart to the young Reading band in the green room.
Tickets are £16 and doors open at 7.30pm. For all the details, or to book tickets, log on to www.sub89.com
Darklands, the stunningly eclectic indie and 60s’ girl group DJ night, has found a new regular home.
Previously held at the Blagrave Arms in Reading, you’ll now find it nearby at The Corn Stores in Forbury Gardens.
You will hear everything from PIL, Jesus and Mary Chain and The Smiths to Suicide, Velvet Underground, Gang Of Four and Cramps.
Head down there this Friday at 8pm. Free entry.
Reading’s hardcore rock band Exit Ten have just landed their biggest support tour ever.
They are supporting American multi-million selling act Shinedown on their UK and European tour at 1,000 to 5,000 capacity venues.
The five-piece, whose second album Give Me Infinity garnered rave reviews from Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, also have their first hometown headline show in a year to warm up for the tour.
Book your tickets for Thursday, October 11, at Sub89 in Friar Street, Reading via www.sub89.com.
Listen out for them on my show on Sunday, September 30, at 7pm on BBC Radio Berkshire.
A new folk duo from Wokingham emailed me the link to their debut EP the other day. Birds And The Beacon formed in March 2012 and released their EP Circles this month via Bandcamp.
Their music is soft and gentle with beautiful harmonies, and I advise you to check them out at www.birdsandthebeacon.com
