New look Friday nights at The Jazz Café

September 03, 2010

There'll be a modern feel to The Jazz Café on Friday nights starting this evening.

The venue at Madejski Stadium is moving from the 70s and 80s to the 90s and beyond.

Four-piece band Juice are launching the new look Friday night playing music from the likes of The Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters and Radiohead.

They promise an occasional oldie to keep everyone happy.

Can anyone actually afford to drink in the Jazzage? At their prices a miserable time will be had by all...

   Hi 'Wodger Wabbit',

Many thanks for your comments - all feedback appreciated.

We are a live music venue here at The Jazz Cafe, covering all genres from 'alternative rock' as you mention, through to Pure Jazz. The Jazz Cafe in Camden is another example of a venue that has a broad range of live music on display - not just Jazz.

Our commitment to Jazz is still very prominent, with next Thursday's (16th) gig of The Clark Tracy Quintet being an example of this. We also cover Soul, R&B and even comedy nights now - so we really do have live entertainment from right across the spectrum.

Friday nights are very much 'New Look' for us here, but our determination to bring quality music from all genres of music remains very strong.

We hope to see you here soon, and thanks again for your comments.

Maybe the Jazz Cafe is due a name change, am I wrong in thinking that the Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters and Radiohead are more tuned into alternative rock than Jazz?

I have been to the JC recently and it is not what it once was, it did surprise me that the band playing were not a Jazz band.
