Peter Andre brings 'Insania' to Reading

By Paul Robins
September 17, 2009

Insania hit Reading yesterday as thousands of screaming fans queued for hours to meet pop star Peter Andre.

Shrieks filled The Oracle as the singer popped by for a signing session at HMV to promote his new album ‘Revelation.’

Armed with their copies of the CD, thousands of girls – and a handful of boys –waited patiently to get a precious few seconds with their hunky hero.

The 36-year-old - who wrote and recorded the album over 18 months in London and Los Angeles – said he was overwhelmed by the reaction.

“I feel like I’m a teenager again,” he said. “I just can’t believe it. This is the biggest crowd we’ve had. This is our fourth signing and I don’t think any of us expected this.

“It’s incredible. I can’t thank everyone enough for coming.”

Schoolgirls Shufish Oodacre and Tayla Benson could barely contain their excitement after meeting their idol.

“Its amazing because he is proper fit and we never get famous people around here,” said Tayla.

“And he is like amazingly buff. Everyone was screaming and I nearly wet myself when I saw him because he is so fit.”

Fellow ‘Team Pete’ member Vicki Dennis said: “He’s a really nice guy. Really lovely. I met him 10 years ago and he remembered me. He said it was lovely to see me.”

Shaking as she reached the front of the queue, Kayley Knott said: “I’ve got butterflies that no one can imagine. He is so gorgeous.”

Jemma Garland and friend Amy Tropman had been Andre fans since his heyday in the mid 90s.

Amy added: "I like his new album its much better, it’s a bit more adult,. I really love it."

“We used to go to concerts together all those years ago, said Jemma. He’s amazing and a genuine man.”

I wonder if Peter was approached by Melvin Benn about a possible headline slot at Reading 2010?

ENOUGH! His visit put us right back in the running for the award for cultural capital city of European excellence etc, so leave it!

In fairness, why are the people that usually moan about nothing every happening in Reading now moaning that the lead story for one day isn't very exciting for most of us?

This is the lead article on this website! Strikes me as lazy journalism. If the EP journos took their jobs as seriously as the EP moderator does they might come up with something worth reading! They make Peter Andre look talented! Paul Robins – total rubbish. Go and stand in the corner and face the wall...

Some of the quotes in this article are brilliant, made me laugh for ages! Say them in your head with a "Vicky Pollard" accent and you'll see what I mean!

Fair play to the guy!

@Jon E Lymm. Question is, what would that poor girl have done had it turned out he actually *was* "amazingly buff", not merely an approximation thereof? Narrow escape for all concerned, I reckon.

The girl "nearly wet herself" because like all the other people who turned up to see this talentless clown, she is barely out of nappies. I guess the schools must have had a quiet day...

Aw c'mon - his fans were happy and it didn't cause any problems (though urine soaked floors were obviously a risk). Bless.

Maybe the "Revelation" he had is that he's a talentless clown and as soon as the press attention surrounding his divorce dies down, he will fade back into the sea of obscurity from whence he came.

And oh dear god, a girl nearly wet herself over him because "he is like amazingly buff"? Something tells me she's probably from Whitley...
