Eye up a great night of music

The Apprentice is on, and even Midsomer Murders, but BBC Introducing Live in Reading is still buzzing on a Wednesday evening.

Under the cool neon glow of the Oakford Social Club sign, Reading’s Full Force Gales gust delightfully ramshackle melodies, whispers of sea shanties on a salty breeze.

Next up, Bradford band Redwire (pictured) actually drove five hours just to play a 30-minute set in Reading, and then afterwards drove five hours back. The pacy indie outfit are handsomely rewarded with an enthused crowd as singer Tom eyeballs and shudders his way through like a man possessed.

Finally Sixty Watt Bayonets, fronted by history teacher Penny, torpedo forth their arthouse punk into the audience, who desperately try to avoid eye contact with Penny as she snakes through the sihouetted bodies.

In-your-face quite literally for a hapless passer-by who thought a short-cut through the crowd would be easy.

Be there for the next gig this Wednesday with Explore and The Blizzards. Entry is free and the fun starts at 8pm.
