The sound of steel pan music will fill South Street arts centre on Sunday with a special bank holiday show to put you in the mood for the forthcoming Reading Carnival.

The Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra will host its third steel pan music showcase in an event aimed at encouraging people to join the project’s weekly workshops at The Abbey Gateway in Reading, and celebrate RASPO’s 10th year of performances.

Led by captain Nathifa Jordan and and vice captain Zash Brazell, the evening’s entertainment features guest band BBG, a Latin groove combo with piano and flute, along with the best of the orchestra’s repertoire including soul, reggae, classical and calypso.

Members of the orchestra will bring together steel pans, flute, keyboards and vocals to create an exciting blend of musical styles.

The fun starts from 6.30pm and tickets cost £5 and can be booked by calling (0118) 960 6060 or logging on to www.readingarts.com. For more information, call CultureMix Arts on (0118) 950 0929 or visit www.culturemixarts.co.uk.
