The popular bigOAKFORDmusicquiz at the Oakford Social Club is celebrating its first birthday this Monday.
Held on the first and third Monday every month it’s a regular gathering Berkshire music lovers, testing their wits over music trivia old and new. Prizes range from Cliff Richard calendars to a decent pot of cash.
It’s £1 per person to take part (maximum of seven per team) and this coming Monday there will be cake for all!
The quiz starts at 8pm sharp.
Formed in 1989 by Ozric Tentacles drummer Merv Pepler and Ozric’s keyboard player Joie Hinton, Eat Static can legitimately claim to be one of the UK’s first live dance outfits. You can go see them at Plug’n’Play in Milford Road, Reading on Friday.
Groundshaker is the name of Reading’s first ever gig celebrating both Eid and Diwali – the two most important dates in the Hindu, Sikh and Islamic calendars.
Held at the newly refurbished Bamboo Nightclub at Station Hill in Reading, the night kicks off at 10pm tonight with DJs playing a mix of Bhangra, Bollywood, Desi beats, R’n’B, hip hop, UK garage and ragga.
The night is topped off with a performance by Reading Bhangra vocalist Harmesh Sandhu.
Tickets: £5 women, £7 men, £10 after 12.30am.
The Pigeon Detectives celebrate the release of their new single Say It Like You Mean It with a series of free shows and signing sessions at HMV stores across the UK. They’ll be at HMV at The Oracle in Reading on Tuesday at 12.30pm.
The Exposure Music Awards are coming to every major town in South Central Britain, including Reading on Wednesday October 22.
The team are looking for the most talented acts playing live in Reading, with selected artists winning the chance to go out on national tours such as the M4 Tour.
