Pirates a treasure at new gig night

By Linda Serck
8/10/2008

They may be headlining the BBC Electric Proms at the end of October, but Reading’s Pete and the Pirates are thankfully not one of those bands who forget their hometown at the first taste of success.

The five-piece, whose music has been described as a “blend of smooth edged punk and pop produces music that is sweet, raw, joyous, melancholic, raucous and tender”, are headlining a new club night in Reading called Revelry on Thursday, November 20.

This eagerly anticipated homecoming gig forms part of their full UK tour, with support from Tripwires and a set or two from Oakford Social Club regular DJ Olly.

Advance tickets are £8. More details: www.myspace. com/glasswerkreading.
