Get ready for the RevolutionBy Linda Serck

Here’s a heads up about a new musical movement starting in Reading at the end of August.
Girl/Boy Revolution kicks off on Friday, August 29, and will carry on for six months on the last Friday of every month at the Rising Sun Arts Centre in Silver Street, Reading.
The same three bands will be playing there every month: Sixty Watt Bayonets, MidiMidis and The Good Natured (pictured above), who are organiser Sid Siddle’s three favourite new bands.
“They will provide the perfect soundtrack to the movement,” says Sid of the trio.
“They are the sound of now. The sound of year zero. The sound of tomorrow.
“All different musically, but they are all punk. It worked for the Sex Pistols, Velvet Underground, Bikini Kill. Why not us?”
Complementing the gig night will be a new ‘zine, which goes back to “old skool fanzine ethic”.
“It’s the perfect means to get our point across,” says Sid. “It’s the perfect organ for punk.
“To start it will be a double sided A5 cut‘n’paste masterpiece. Issue one will mainly be created by the three bands. It will be free and then who knows ... a 60 page glossy magazine?”
Girl/Boy Revolution aims to be six months of a creative and positive DIY movement.
And, as Sid says, while the music industry is becoming oversaturated with commercialism, he plans to keep Pritt Stick in business.
