Going up in the world
15/ 5/2008
Farnham's blues crossover stars Helium Soul make a long awaited appearance at Aldershot’s West End Centre on Friday, May 16 at 8pm.
They’ve been building foundations on the blues and rock circuit since 2002, honing their edgy, retro yet contemporary mix of rock and nu-blues.
Taking to any stage that would have them, they have a chemistry that’s produced countless memorable shows, all doused in a knowing swagger.
They can also boast some heavy weight fans including Kenney Jones (The Who/Small Faces), Steve Lamacq (Radio 1, 6 Music), and Bruce Dickinson (radio presenter and frontman of Iron Maiden).
The band are influenced by the likes of RL Burnside, Robert Johnson, Junior Kimborough, Sly & the Family Stone, and James Brown, and contain collective experience that belies their young years.
And frontman Russ Blaber recently fulfilled a lifelong ambition by sharing a stage with the legendary BB King.
Helium Soul’s recognition continues to grow and, with the follow-up to their debut disc Mass Of Four impending, they introduce a new fearless quality to their uniquely huge sound.
Tickets are £6 from 01252 330040.
