Summery Gem

By Linda Serck
18/ 4/2008

If you're not quite in the summery mood yet (after all, it was snowing not too long ago) then listen to my show – The Session Introducing – this Sunday, from 7pm on BBC Radio Berkshire.

My guest in the studio will be someone who only has to play her music and sing to burst forth rays of mellow sunny vibes.

Before you know it, you’re on a palm beach, sipping on a cocktail, watching the azure sea gently lap on to the shore...

Before I get too carried away, the young lady in question is the effervescent Jewels from Jewels and the Jacuzzis, who was so popular at the Big Day Out festival in Bracknell last year I saw her sign autographs.

Jewels and the Jacuzzis play a sun-drenched melange of dub reggae, R&B and soul, with a sound that evokes a Morcheeba breeziness.

They’re also playing a series of live dates including May Day on Sunday, May 4 at the Oakford Social Club in Blagrave Street, Reading.

But if you’re not in the mood for going out, don your sunhat and turn the dial to The Session Introducing for the sound of summer.
