Cornish four piece set to cause a stir

18/ 1/2007

Tipped for the top by the NME, Cornish four piece Thirteen Senses perform their blend of melodic rock at The Fez Club on Friday, March 23. Originally scheduled in early February, the UK tour has been put back to accompany their new album.

Taking the epic splendour of the Doves and the fragile dreaminess of The Delays, Thirteen Senses create grand music with moments of clarity and tenderness. Thirteen Senses have the brilliance to certainly be considered one of the best bands of 2007.

Their debut album, The Invitation, was released at a time when Coldplay, Keane and Elbow topped the charts. Produced by Danton Supple, it invited enormous praise from the music press and ensured that Thirteen Senses enjoyed some chart success of their own.

The band, Tom Welham (guitar), Will South (vocals/piano/guitar), Adam Wilson (bass) and Brendon James (drums) certainly display many of their influences in their writing.

The Beatles, Pink Floyd and The Flaming Lips are also all named by the band as major inspirations.

For the most part, The Invitation was a melancholic collection aimed squarely at the heartstrings. Often, though, their chiming guitars and harmonic vocals are reminiscent of classic American bands like The Byrds and Big Star, especially on tracks Into The Fire and Thru The Glass.

New single All The Love In Your Hands is released on March 19 with their second album, Contact, out on April 2.

Tickets are £11 in advance. For more details visit the website www.thirteensenses.co.uk
