Review: The Charlatans at the Hexagon

30/11/2006

This latest tour by one of the UK's best mainstays has been greeted with good and bad reviews alike. Gladly I can report that this date was a great show, even though it had not totally sold out.

The tour is coinciding with the November of Forever; the best singles collection and frontman Tim Burgess was in relaxed mood as he hung around the bar  chatting to a few lucky fans before coming on.

By the end of the night you remembered just what a good band these guys are and just how many top tunes they have had since Some Friendly was released back in 1990.

The gig started with Forever to allow Burgess to make a late arrival on stage to a big cheer. This was swiftly followed by Blackened Blue Eyes which has to be one of their best tracks to date.

With other famous singles such as Tellin’ Stories, The Only One I Know and How High, the night just seemed to get better as it went on.

The light show was amazing, dazzling the crowd and definitely adding to the spectacle.

And the encore was completed with crowd favourite Sproston Green.
