CLASSIC rock band The Zone will be taking their place at the top table at this year’s GuilFest next to some of the biggest names in the industry.
The mature rock band will be performing on Friday at 4.15pm, marking their third consecutive appearance at the award-winning festival and admit to being ‘thrilled’ at the opportunity.
Drummer Rob Hayter adds: “We are right up there with the big boys. We will be performing alongside some of the cream of the UK’s music industry, The Straites, Jools Holland,The South. It is a very prestigious and tremendous opportunity for the band.”
The Guildford based three-piece was originally formed in 2006 by guitarist/vocalist Dave Browett and bassist/vocalist John Cunnison, both from Farnborough.
Together, they had played in a variety of bands in the 80s and 90s and after performing with several different drummers between 2006 and 2010, Hayter finally joined the band last year.
Characterising their music as ‘original rock with some interesting twists’, the band state that it is very accessible at the same time, adding ‘the public always enjoys it, we’ve got some very good sing-along choruses and very catchy lyrics.”
Having already produced two albums, The Zone have recently released an EP entitled Which Path and have future plans to record a new album in the summer. Hayter said: “We are extremely grateful to Tony Scott, the organiser of GuilFest and to all those who have been extremely supportive of the band over the years. We hope to carry on to bigger and better things.”
Tickets to see The Zone can be purchased directly from their website on www.thezonerock.com and a free CD of their latest EP will be given with every order.
